How are Multilayers in Noble Wood manufactured?

Multilayer wood floors, also known as floating wood floors, are manufactured using a process that combines layers of real wood. This creates a durable and stable product, with characteristics that can be superior to those of solid wood in terms of strength, dimensional stability, and fluctuations in moisture content.

Below, we briefly and simply describe the mechanics of the multilayer manufacturing process:

  1. Wood Layers: The process begins with the selection of several layers of high-quality wood. The top layer, known as the “lamella,” “wear layer,” or “hardwood,” is the visible part of the floor. This layer is made of solid wood, often a hardwood species such as oak, riga, or walnut, which determines the aesthetic appearance of the floor.
  2. Inner Layers: Under the wear layer, several layers of wood are laid. These inner layers are known as “support layers” and are glued together. These layers are positioned perpendicular to the wear layer or in the same direction, depending on the type of construction used. This gives the floor its dimensional stability and reduces the likelihood of warping or warping.
  3. Gluing and Pressure: The layers of wood are glued together with high-quality glue to create a solid block. Gluing is performed under high pressure and at controlled temperatures to ensure a strong and durable bond between the layers.
  4. Cutting and Laminating: The resulting block is cut into strips or planks of the desired size. Each plank consists of several layers of wood, which helps ensure the stability of the flooring.
  5. Finishing: The cut planks are then subjected to a finishing process, which can include various surface effects such as brushing, saw-cutting, or a smooth finish. A natural-colored varnish or oil, or other desired shade, is then applied. This process enhances the wood’s natural beauty and provides greater protection against wear, stains, and moisture.
  6. Installation: Multi-layer wood floors can be installed in a variety of ways, including full-glue or floating installation. The choice of installation method will depend on personal preference and site conditions.

Multi-layer wood flooring offers a versatile and durable alternative to solid wood, providing the beauty and warmth of natural wood along with the stability and strength needed for a variety of applications.
